Everything You Need to Analyze Flight Routes

AeroHub Analytics packs professional-grade aviation analysis into a free, browser-based tool. From raw ADS-B data to operational intelligence in seconds.

Flight Phase Detection

Automatically detects eight distinct flight phases from raw ADS-B track data: idle, taxi-out, takeoff roll, climb, cruise, descent, approach, and taxi-in. Uses calibrated speed, altitude, and movement thresholds validated against real airline operations.

  • Taxi-out detected from first sustained ground movement above 5 knots
  • Takeoff roll identified by acceleration through 40 knots on the ground
  • Airborne threshold at 50 ft AGL with speed above 80 knots
  • Cruise floor at 18,000 ft using 70th-percentile altitude analysis
  • Approach phase triggers below 10,000 ft during descent

Fuel Burn Estimation

Models trip fuel consumption for any commercial aircraft type using phase-weighted allocation. Total fuel is computed from average hourly burn rates, then distributed across flight phases based on duration and operational intensity.

  • Supports turboprops, regional jets, narrowbodies, and widebodies
  • Phase allocation: ~15% takeoff + climb, ~75% cruise, ~5% descent, ~5% taxi
  • CO2 emissions calculated using ICAO standard factor of 3.16 kg CO2 per kg Jet A-1
  • Adjusts for long-haul vs short-haul fuel distribution patterns

Direct Operating Cost Calculator

Breaks down flight costs into five categories based on aircraft type and route duration. All rates are overridable for custom scenario analysis.

  • Fuel cost from estimated burn and configurable per-kg Jet A-1 price
  • Crew costs scaled by aircraft family and block hours
  • Maintenance and engine reserve per block hour
  • Insurance, depreciation, and lease costs per block hour
  • Navigation charges, landing fees, and ground handling estimates

Altitude and Speed Profiles

Interactive SVG charts display altitude and ground speed across the full flight. Flight phases are rendered as colored background bands. Hover over any point to inspect exact values.

  • Altitude line with gradient fill showing terrain clearance
  • Speed overlay as dashed line on secondary axis
  • Phase-colored backgrounds for visual context
  • Hover inspection with altitude, speed, heading, and UTC time

Cruise Profile and Step Climbs

Analyzes cruise altitude behavior to detect step climbs — altitude increases during the cruise phase used to optimize fuel efficiency at higher flight levels.

  • Identifies initial and final cruise altitudes
  • Detects step-climb transitions with altitude gain, duration, and distance
  • Smooths transient altitude noise using median filtering
  • Merges short-hold segments to find true settled cruise levels

Multi-Route Comparison

Load up to five routes simultaneously to compare operational metrics side-by-side. All routes appear on the same map with unique color coding.

  • Side-by-side table comparing block time, fuel, cost, and cruise data
  • Color-coded routes on interactive Leaflet map
  • Independent aircraft selection per route
  • Fleet totals for distance, block time, and fuel

Interactive Route Map

Leaflet-powered map displaying the full flight track with departure and arrival markers. Supports hover inspection and animated playback.

  • Great circle route visualization with departure and arrival markers
  • Hover to inspect any point along the route
  • Playback controls to animate the flight progression
  • Auto-fitting bounds for single and multi-route views

SSIM Schedule Converter

Parse fixed-width SSIM (Standard Schedules Information Manual) airline schedule lines into structured, readable tables with CSV export.

  • Reads IATA SSIM Type 2 and Type 3 record formats
  • Extracts flight numbers, routes, times, frequencies, and aircraft types
  • Exports as series-level or day-by-day expanded CSV
  • Validates date ranges and schedule periods

Aircraft Database

Comprehensive database of commercial aircraft types with performance data for accurate fuel and cost modeling.

  • Covers major turboprop, regional jet, narrowbody, and widebody families
  • Includes MTOW, max range, cruise speed, and typical seat counts
  • IATA and ICAO type code matching for automatic aircraft identification
  • Range validation warnings when route exceeds aircraft capability

Data Quality Assessment

Every analysis includes a data quality confidence score based on track coverage, sampling intervals, and gap detection.

  • Penalizes data gaps, irregular sampling, and sparse coverage
  • Track stitching with interpolation preserves route continuity
  • Analysis notes flag specific data issues for transparency
  • Quality bands: high, medium, and low confidence ratings
